Content
Good, Clean, Relevant
The importance of relevant content written for your visitors is sometimes overlooked but essential for a good website. This can happen for a number of reason such as an agency rushing the job and taking no care over the details. It's never too late to correct this and make improvements. You can have the worlds best looking site but without good quality content, there's no point.
Treat your online presentation the same as offline; bad formatting and spelling mistakes are big no-no's offline, it's no different online.
And remember - don't underline anything in your copy, if it's not a link it shouldn't have a line underneath, it'll only confuse your visitors.
Fresh Content
Amazingly many websites fail to add content to their site regularly. No need to go blog crazy, but new content that is relevant to your site should be added as often as you can. This should be written with a reader in mind, don't add hundreds of keywords with the hope of topping every Google search, it's just not going to happen. Unique and natural content will gain you a higher position on the search engines, for example:
- Is your business doing anything new?
- Has a newspaper or customer said something nice about you?
- Are you sponsoring or involved in an upcoming event?
- Has one of your employees raised some money for charity?
One story isn't going to bump you to the top of the search rankings but piece by piece you'll increase the richness of your site.
